I love pulling this center out when we need something seasonal, skill-based, and still super easy to set up. It’s one of those activities that feels like a game—but is secretly packed with phonics and fluency practice.

✏️How We Use it

We keep a basket of pumpkins ready and add strips based on each student’s skill level. Some of my kids are working on beginning sounds, while others are decoding sentences—and this one center fits all of them!

Kids pick a strip, read the word or sentence, and match it to the correct image or letter using a mini eraser, pompom, or bingo chip. It’s great for small group work, morning tubs, or independent literacy centers, especially during the fall season when excitement is high and attention spans… are not!
